Why Choose Oxford?

What's on offer

As well as being responsible for teaching, the colleges offer their students accommodation during the term and provide meals, common rooms and social and meeting rooms. Many venues welcome bookings for day and evening events throughout the year, but residential conferences can only be accommodated during the vacations.

Added to the college facilities, the University departments extend the range of venues available. The magnificent seventeenth-century Sheldonian Theatre, for example, can be booked for a plenary meeting or a concert (with seating for up to 900 people).

The nineteenth-century Examination Schools, where Oxford students take their examinations, can accommodate 450 people in plenary sessions, with many break-out rooms to supplement conferences. Or, you could opt for the Said Business School, opened in 2001, with its twenty-first-century design standards and a variety of rooms suitable for meetings of all shapes and sizes. Alternatively, you can choose to hold your reception amongst the dinosaurs in the University Museum or have a personalized tour of the fine art collections in the Ashmolean Museum.

Oxford colleges are also renowned for providing fine dining for their members and guests, and their chefs are always very pleased to discuss specific requirements with clients.

Venues for teaching groups, training sessions of all kinds, and social events abound in Oxford, as the colleges and University buildings were founded and developed for these purposes. Traditional or contemporary, large or small, Oxford will certainly be able to offer you the environment you are seeking for your conference, day meeting, alumni gathering, training session, or social event.
